Pacing wise, you're exactly where you need to be. It is a race, after all. ;) I tend to stick with smaller families just to have fewer people to worry about and to have more fast forward time but there's nothing wrong with having large households. And as I say that, I'm planning on snatching the Roomies for my hunter bloodline, lol. The trick with founders is getting them a career that requires the least amount of skill investment as any skill they max cannot be a unique skill down the road. It's why any "single skill" career and Scientist are so valuable. So long as you get the breakthroughs, you don't even have to follow the sim to work to get the promotions. Good luck with the point farming for the Mansion Baron line.

Also, I noticed that you have a 2nd aspiration listed for Selene. She isn't required to complete it, even if she is doing all the gardening, and she can't use the points it generates anyway. I'd stop working on it and let one of the heirs complete it if it were me but I just wanted to let you know just in case.

Your kiddos are so cute, I can't wait to see toddler training.

Ah, yes. Speaking purely from a visual perspective, I think the move to have Caleb level fitness is a very wise one. Yes, yes indeed. *rubs fog off glasses*

I'd forgotten about the townie stats posts! I'm going to have some serious studying to do!

I'm so glad Diego has joined the ranks of the undead. He was always meant to be ageless. His dark form . . . could have been worse, but yeah, those flip-flops! Yikes! I hope you'll forgive my Diego obsession. Your version is very distinct from mine, but I'm still very attached to him, in any incarnation. :) Can hardly wait for Ilaria to age up! Diego progeny!

Massimo is the cutest! I love him posing by the mosquito trap in his vampire wardrobe with the little striped socks! I can hardly wait for the upcoming Toddler-Palooza!

I love that you chose to have Caleb take care of fitness, reasoning that it would be better from a visual perspective.  I mean, that is really important to these challenges after all, so a good move.

Poor girl sitting at the chess table though lol.

Wow your family is growing fast!  Diego is stunning in his makeover and I'm thinking I like him even more than Caleb.

Massimo is adorable.  Little monster boy.

Another lovely update!
Realistically, I don't know if anyone actually knows the correct pacing for Rivalry Dynasties, but for what its worth, I think you're doing just fine  :=)

@Alex
On a Dark Ley Line isn't the most useful lot trait in a house filled with vampires and vampires-to-be. But, oh well, it's a bad decision that will last just one generation...

@dontmindme
Thank you for catching that mistake in Jade's stats. As you can see, I'm still a bit confused but gradually internalizing the many rules. This is a fascinating challenge and also has great replay value if one chooses different bloodline options a second time (*tips hat to MarianT and the Challenges Team). Thanks for sharing your insights about the founders. :D

@FrancescaFiori
I'm such an idiot! I was checking Lilith Vatore's traits later and was reminded that she had the Active trait, which is why she was initially leveling Fitness.
So she's back on the treadmill while Caleb has switched to yoga/meditation which still offers visual benefits.  Yes--the townie info link should be bookmarked for doing an RDC or an Apocalypse Challenge.
The pool of housed townies is limited, so I hope you'll enjoy seeing Diego as a broody vampire, haha. I hope all the kids are as cute as teen as they are as toddlers...

@wfgodot
I thank you for approving my decision to prioritize the visuality of this challenge, hehe. The poor girl at the chess table is his sister.
In fact, I gave him a vampire power that eliminated hygiene loss so that was also a factor. Or did I give it to him because of the visual...oh, I don't remember now.
Diego thanks you for the compliment on his makeover and hopes that will encourage his watcher to give him more time in the narrative spotlight...
All the toddlers have been super cute so far, but aren't all the toddlers adorable? The most difficult aspect of Week 2 will be refraining from excessive toddler spam.

@PeregrineTook
Thank you, Pippin. Well, are you taking the leap? I am missing my regular Pippin fix and wonder if you'll start a new RDC.
I mean, you won the Vampires Game Pack in a forum giveaway--I think you owe it to us to do an RDC that includes vampires. Just half kidding.   ;)

Week 2 with the Benjaminz (Part I)

Saturday

That tragic moment when, after having a spare buy four moodlet solvers, one remembers that toddlers can't use moodlet solvers…

That's our wee green heir Moss Benjaminz with his friend Akiko Faust.

Sunday

Remember me? I'm Salim Benali, devoted spouse of Jade Benjaminz and father of Moss and, perhaps, a baby daughter.
Off to work! I'm a Level 4 Writer and will quit this job as soon as I write enough bestsellers for my authorial aspiration.
They say one writes novels faster in the Writer career!

The toddlers and household switching have been so chaotic!
Maaike and I forgot to complete our daily tasks for today, and Jade almost missed work!
Get with the program, Watchette! If you don't remember, who will? *rolls eyes

Ulrike: Yumiko (ex-gardener) and I are the only ones home with the kids today. After joining the Scientist career  earlier, she's been trying for breakthroughs.

Akira visits but won't come inside, for some reason. Instead, he stays out by the back door, singing to the garbage can.
Is it because he belongs to that household named Karaoke Legends?

Yumiko: Don't you remember? We locked both doors that night when that vampire visited.
Right, I remember that from two sim-weeks ago. *sighs

Ulrike: Thanks for coming by and helping with the kids, Akira. Akiko's so excited to see you!

Moss: Hey, Akiko! Let's bob our heads like in "A Night at the Roxbury."
*sings while bobbing head: What is love? Baby, don’t hurt me. Don't hurt me no more!

Salim: After work, Jade and I go on several home dates, which is never a hardship!
Jade: Salim darling, I think I prefer this sleepwear to your default pjs, from a purely aesthetic standpoint, of course.

Monday

Yumiko: At 3 am, Akiko wakes up from a nightmare so Watchette has me go comfort her. But guess who shows up to comfort her instead?
Awwww….

So, Akira, does this mean you'll be hanging around? Not that I mind since you're great with Akiko.
Those snakeskin pants, however, will have to go. *buys a closet
Oh wait…you autonomously clean dirty potties? Akira, you're a keeper!

Jade: If there's one thing that everybody dislikes, it's a skill object hog!
Yeah, I'm thinking of locking Yumiko out of the Inspired Studio altogether.
I can make her a dungeon--I mean, a bedroom--downstairs with her woodworking table and invention constructor…

Jade: I have the day off today so I spend a lot of time with Moss. He maxed Potty today and is nearly done with Thinking, too.
He still has three more days until his birthday, so we're going to try to max all his skills.

And I have to say, Akira, we're all glad to have you around.
Akira: Awwww, thanks.

Yumiko: As soon as I return from my first day of work, I'm rushed through dinner then we're off to fish.
Salim: Jade catches a cowplant berry after a few hours, so our mission here is done.

Yumiko: And no, I'm not pregnant. Why am I the only here who isn't svelte and slender?

Tuesday

Ulrike: While teaching Moss to speak, I get the notice about Fern's birthday.
Fern is definitely a little girl, thankfully, and could be her brother's identical twin.
Although born with brown hair, Watchette gives her dark-green hair to match her green skintone and eyes.

Ulrike: Just after Fern ages up, Moss becomes a Happy Toddler. I hire a nanny to help out with our three toddlers.
Akira, it seems, had been off work on Sunday and Monday. We all miss having him around!

Akiko: Wheee!

Salim: Hmmmph! I can do that with Moss even better!
Incidentally, I completed Bestselling Author this morning, so today was my last day of work. Moss, my little man, I'm all yours!

Moss: Getting down with daddy!

Yumiko: Okay, who's da Level 5 Scientist!? Is it okay for me to quit soon?

Perhaps Moss will be the one to revive The Dancers in this challenge…

While the energized Moss runs around, he discovers the Benjaminz Museum behind the house.
He's the first member of the household to even notice the newish building.

Thursday

Salim: We sing and chat together so Moss can max his last two skills. We'll be ageing Moss up earlier than his birthday, but we forget to check how much earlier.

Jade: While Yumiko quickly bakes a birthday cake, I rush Moss outside for his last toddler spam, uh, I mean, photo.Yeah, photo.
Congratulations, Moss! You're the first Top-Notch Toddler in our lineage!

Moss: First of all, I was born to wear this Sims 17th-anniversary t-shirt.
Second, what the heck? Where are my emerald locks? Also, don't you think my hair looks a little too greasy?
Sorry, Moss! You'll have to wait for your teen birthday for your green hair. Incentive to age up early, eh? *firmly resists looking online for children's green hair cc...

Moss: Third, I'm feeling deeply insecure about being compared with Thaddeus Spiffendale. Aren't we, like, virtually half-brothers?.
He is, like, super cool but I'm just a regular kid, okay?
Relax, Moss. You may not be as witty but you got that whole green thing going for you!  ;D

Thanks for reading!

Gosh, the house-switching sounds chaotic! It must be strange to have to re-orient yourself to a different household every week.
The toddlers are so sweet running through their mossy nursery! I love what you've done with the place!
Nice job Akira on the autonomous potty-cleaning! I tend to avoid him because of the jealous trait, but I'm going to have to add him, along with Travis, to my List of Townies Who Deserve Another Chance.
Nice work Salim on Bestselling Author! That's got to be record time! I know he started out with fairly high writing skill, but even so!

Oh, gosh! Moss and Thaddeus are kind of half-brothers! That's awesome! Don't worry, little man, we all have our own talents and I'm pretty sure Thad has always been a little insecure about not having inherited his Mom's alien skintone. He'd be pretty jealous of your lovely green complexion. :) That shirt is too perfect as well!

Lastly, just wanted to say how excited I am at the mention of potential dancers. Oh, what a glorious tradition! Hooray!

Moss looks quite handsome, and definitely does have the green thing going for him!

It could be that you're having trouble keeping track because of all your helpers. I've found that they help in the Mansion Baron option because they bring in money and in the Retail option because they can work in the store. But otherwise, smaller households are easier to work with. I didn't have toddlers when I working on the Rival Dynasties Challenge, and we didn't allow early age-ups then, so I really can't tell how you're doing with pacing. But generally, the sooner you can get the next heir born, the better.

Moss is so cute in his final photo with the head tilt.  Not to mention his toddler streaking.  It was adorable watching him wander around exploring.  Fern!!

I have a feeling I'll fail this challenge miserably if I ever attempt it - if even you are flustered.  I forgot all about the door locks and everything too.

I want a Moss and Thaddeus half sibling too!  *feels left out*  Delaney so could have gotten with Salim and she didn't.

Head-bobbing toddlers on the potty.  Wonderfully silly moment!
And yes, I'll get a Rivalry Dynasty going before too long.  I'm just exploring the vampire expansion pack some ore and making sure I feel somewhat like I have an understanding of what I'm getting into and how I might possibly get through it first  ;=)

@FrancescaFiori
Week 2 with the Benjaminz did start out chaotically but everything sorted out rather nicely by the end of the week. You've started an RDC--do you not find the switching difficult as well?
I've avoided playing Akira so far as well. Besides being jealous, his default skills aren't that great, either. But I was so moved by his devotion to Akiko as a baby daddy. I used the BFFs in one of my failed IDC attempts and was put off by Travis' odd body shape, which even exercise couldn't remedy. But I love sims who clean autonomously, so Travis is a keeper, lol.
I have to confess, I never imagined I'd enjoy these green sims so much! I just hope the skintone persists!( Please check out Moss in his party outfit on the Stats page…)

@MarianT
I'm so enjoying this challenge now that I've actually taken the plunge.
It's hard to resist maxing out the household yet I'm still getting used to the challenge rules, toddlers, and vampires, so I hope I won't seem as frazzled as time passes.
I was so excited when the Team announced the early age-up option, and yet it's hard to break the habit of trying to "complete everything" before moving on.

@wfgodot
My fluster at the start of Week 2 with the Benjaminz was very real but I was also playing it for laughs, because this challenge is so different from how I've become used to playing.
To be honest, I make the same lame forgetful mistakes during extended gameplay without switching. Like, I'll lock everyone out of the computer room for a party then later wonder why a sim won't complete his daily programming task. (Although forgetting that I'd had Liberty Lee join the Scientist career was just dumb...lol)
It's not too late to have a Benali half-sibling! Replace your butler with Salim, lol.

@PeregrineTook
Thank you for enjoying the head-bobbing. Sometimes I worry if my silly visual puns are just too old. You are wise to explore the Vampire GP first and I'm so excited to hear that I'll soon be reading about your vampires making absurdly witty conversations. I actually play-tested toddlers instead of vampires before staring my RDC, so I still have a lot to learn about vampires but it's been super fun so far.

Week 2 with the Benjaminz (Part II)

Thursday

And here's Moss Benjamin, our next heir, looking pensive and philosophical as he reflects on an age-old question.
Moss: Boxers or briefs?

Jade: Around 7 am, I try to buy something from Buy Mode but get an error message: "You can't do that while a sim is turning into a vampire."
Salim: A vampire? Who? Everyone in our household is indoors, except Yumiko. Oh no!

Jade: Psych! She's just over the by the rocks, singing. (What's with all the singing lately?)

Ulrike: Nearly 3 hours later, we discover the source of the earlier message! A blond woman near the edge of our neighborhood seems to have recently transformed.
She's standing in the sun and seems to be burning up. I'm not sure what the mouth icon means.
Is she angry or hungry?

That blond vampire is obviously Diego's main squeeze, the ex-forest ranger Yumiko Watanabe.
Not to be confused with Yumiko Murakami, the ex-gardener who lives with the Benjaminz.

Awwww, we missed seeing her transformation!

Moss: We spend a few hours at Desert Bloom Park, which is my first trip away from home, I think.
Playing the violin suits me perfectly, don't you think? This has got to be one of my unique skills!

I know that the household expects me to eventually settle down with Ulrike's daughter, Akiko.
Tonight, however, I had the most fascinating encounter with an older woman.

Yes, I know that I'm just a child and Yuki is a teen, still…does this challenge let me have a secondary spouse?

Jade: Yuki's so cute and she's got skillz, too, but I've also got my eye on Morgan Fyres and her family.

Friday

Yumiko: I'd thought I wouldn't have to come to the Lab anymore.
Newcrest is a resource-poor neighborhood, so gathering crystals and metals there takes forever.
Yumiko: Well, lucky you, today is Collection Day at the Lab.

Yumiko ends up with 18 MySims capsules and just a few metals and crystals. The game is laughing at me!

Yumiko: So, Watchette, I'd rather quit this career unless there's some science object you really want.
This afternoon, I witness a terrifying sight! At first, I think it might just be stomach pains.

But my co-worker, named Reiko Fujita, floats into the air and transforms into a vampire.
Will she try to compel me to feed her at work?

Salim: There you go, Bessie! Nice and easy.

What are you doing, Yumiko?
Yumiko: What does it look like? I'm trying to lose some of the weight I've gained lately.
It's crept up so gradually and then, bam! I look in the mirror and see a whale! It's too sad.

You know, I really appreciate everything you've been doing around here, skill-object hog or not.
You grafted those dragonfruit plants, you invent science objects, and you craft camping mascots. I have a little present for you to show our gratitude, Yumiko!

Saturday

Ulrike: Akiko maxes her last two skills, Imagination and Communication, while we play with dolls together.

Ulrike: Since we switch households tonight around midnight, everyone in the house is super busy.
That's why I quietly age up my Top-Notch Toddler on my own. Congrats, Akiko!

You look fantastic, Yumiko!
Yumiko: Thanks for the Insta-Lean potion, Watchette, even though I'm pretty sure you used my points to buy it.

At the Romance Festival in San Myshuno's Fashion District…
Moss: Hi, Akiko. Happy birthday! Funny that we're not even friends!
Akiko: Yeah, I feel like I've been skilling non-stop throughout my toddler days. Well, except while I was asleep.
Moss: So, I have the Cheerful trait. What about you?
Akiko: Oh, I have the Creative trait. Can we not be friends until I'm doing Social Butterfly?

Salim: I've been looking around San Myshuno this evening in search of that produce stall.
We just came from the Romance Festival but only roses and daisies were harvestable there.
And I find the produce stall at last! I try haggling for the first time.

Can you believe the vendor wordlessly closed shop and left?
I leave and return to find the produce stall staffed by Marcus Flex.
Again, I try haggling. Again, he wordlessly closes shop and leaves.
Why have a "Haggle" option at all if it's such a bust? Sheesh!

My third trip to this produce stall this evening! I don't even bother to haggle and just buy what I need.
I get home at 7 pm just as Jade returns home from work.
We need to plant these seeds in a hurry so we can make the best use of our remaining hours this week.

Jade: First, I throw a dinner party. Do you know Liberty Lee? I met her when Salim and I had lunch at the café where she works.
I'm not sure why she's wearing her maid outfit to my party, though.

I assigned the Mori household's café uniforms as their second party outfits. I guess she prefers her maid outfit now.

Jade: No, no, Ulrike. The party goal is "Mix 3 drinks." You're not supposed to drink them!

It's hard to get a decent party shot of Yumiko, because she's a glutton.
The hostess decides she doesn't need to change out of her work clothes.

Jade: After earning a gold medal, I immediately phone in a house party with the same guests.
I complete my three-parties requirement at the very end of the second week.

Progress on Requirements

Jade has two left: (1) to max Master of the Real career (currently Level 7)  and (2)  to complete Mansion Baron (need to boost home's worth to $350K).
Moss earned the Top-Notch Toddler trait. As a child, he completed Artistic Prodigy in one day and is eligible for ageing up.
We are waiting, however, until he completes Social Butterfly first.

All in all, the Benjaminz made very satisfying progress during their second week!

It's been so long since my first attempt that I don't remember much other than switching at midnight and being really annoyed that no one was ever in bed. :)
Love Moss's pensive face! What a cutie!
Also love his crush on Yuki. I know it can't be too long before she makes her way into your dynasty. :)
Had to laugh about poor Yumiko and her capsules. I've been having terrible luck with those lately, too!
Akiko is such a cutie! Good thinking not making friends until the proper aspiration.
Salim trying haggle and getting forcefully shut down! LOL.
All in all, a very impressive week!

Wow, Reiko became a creepy looking vampire!  And Yumiko does look great after her potion.  Akiko is cute!  I don't bother with the child aspirations so I'm afraid the reasoning behind waiting to be friends is over my head.  It appears everyone else gets it though.  Hmmm.  Help?

That's too funny about everyone closing up shop in Salim's face when he tries to haggle.  The prices are firm, sir.
