Somehow, I seemed to have missed the start of your RDC (I was even looking...haha).

I love your couples!  The Italian Vampires are my favorite.

I don't usually like colorful skinned Sims but Jade and Moss are changing my mind.  Great choices in spouse and helpers.  (I loved playing Ulrike and Maike)

The Mori restaurant looks delicious.  I was going to say great but I already used that adjective.

I am excited to read about your rotational gameplay experience.  Oh, and ... toddlers!  Loved the photo of Tamari having a moment on the couch.  It made me laugh.  Perfect pic!

It's fascinating to watch you run the restaurant, as I haven't played with them yet.  I laughed about the sink, caged off on its own like it's done something wrong.

Glad you went and decided to see the nooboo.

Tamari's page rage is so cute!  LOL.  And so is your reaction to it.

Had a laugh at Candy breaking into song at the restaurant.

Yay! Thank you for the greenboo reveal, and the peek at little Moss. Such a cutie! Are you going to give the new baby a green-themed name, too, or is that just for heirs?
I'm loving Travis the super-waiter! I've never played with him much, but this makes me think I haven't given him enough credit. Hmm.
You've mentioned a couple of times that you don't plan outfits until everyone is home from work. I thought they fixed that bug. It hasn't given me trouble for awhile. Are you just being cautious? If so, I don't blame you, particularly after patch day. Seems like old bugs have a way of reappearing.
I love Candy singing in her maid outfit. That turns it into another type of cafe altogether. More of a cabaret!
The babies are adorable. I love Murasaki listening raptly to the story, but Tamari's pouty face is even cuter!
Very excited for Vampire Week!

The twins are precious! I really like Tamari, she's a little tomboy which is so cute! It's really cool that Murasaki got Shota's violet eyes. I really like the restaurant's look as well, seems like a very high-class establishment haha. The green-boo and Moss cameo was nice too.

So many adorable little children you have running around Newcrest. I should probably get working on that myself!  I love your cafe inside and out and think you did an awesome job on building it.

The maid and butler outfits work wonderfully and I agree with Francesca - Now it's almost a cabaret, old chum!  :)

As for your treatment of the 'helpers', you're actually nicer than I am sometimes so don't feel bad about doing what you're doing.  I've had games where they didn't even get walls to separate them or the ability to leave the room because the skilling object for them to use was by the bed.  Oh wait.. that's how I treat my  heirs.  Still you're nicer than I am!

Can't wait to see the vampire update!  Mostly because you're so creative and it's nice to share notes right?

Does anyone else get the Black Butler vibe from the restaurant, or is it just me?
I wondered if you'd be able to keep yourself from going to see Jade's nooboo.  I think I speak for all of your readers when I say, "Thank you for not making us wait either!!"
Another lovely update.  Not really sure which bloodline I'm cheering for, so I just want them all to win  :=)

How did I miss this story appearing?! Great job so far, anyway :) I don't have Dine Out or the vampire pack, so this is really interesting.

And I love Tamari's angry face :D

(Just a warning, I had a boy baby in another household appear in the yellow onesie the other day. He had a gender neutral name, and I only realised he wasn't a she when he aged up.)

@Caterina
I’m happy you like all three couples. I don’t usually choose non-standard skintones but I wanted everyone, including myself, to be able to distinguish the three lineages at a glance. I just hope the green skintone persists. Tamari’s a little nut!

@wfgodot
I really love the Dine Out Game Pack for both visiting restaurants with the whole household and creating a restaurant of one’s own. I’ve only own/managed a restaurant once for a tournament challenge, though, so I hope I can do it in a manner that’s both efficient and entertaining. You’re such a compassionate soul—even the kitchen sink gets your sympathy! Candy Behr came with L8 Singing…
Wow, Tamari gained a lot of fans!

@FrancescaFiori
The entire challenge will only have 5-6 heirs per lineage so I hope to give every greenboo and green-themed name. I’ve only played Travis once before in a failed dynasty attempt and didn’t like his build, which is like a slender pear shape, haha. But now that I know he cleans autonomously without being a Neat sim, I’ve become a fan! Oh I never knew that the dresser glitch was fixed! I’ll try it soon in a different file.
Japanese maid cafes and butler cafes typically have little shows, but I can’t recreate them in this café and heaven forbid I won’t be placing a karaoke machine in it.

@NexttoNormal
Thank you! I wanted to make the café more frilly and foufou inside, but don’t know how. Also, I’m super upset that the menu doesn’t offer omelets so Mori & Crew could pretend it’s omu-rice and draw little cutesie faces on it with ketchup!

@Ricalynn
Thanks for dropping by! I really have no idea whether it’s better to pop out the nooboos right away, but the fastest lineage has the chance to buy that extra lot, perhaps. Who knows?
Yes, the helpers. It’s really hard not to get too carried with building in this challenge. When I think that the overall challenge requires 15 houses and at least 5 restaurants/shops, I’m less inclined to consider the comfort of the entire household.
But it’s good for me to change up my gaming style, so all the feedback is welcome.

@PeregrineTook
Of course, you’re familiar with Black Butler, one of my all-time favorite manga/anime! Initially, I’d renamed Shota Mori to Sebastian in honor of our demonic butler, but then switched back to his original name because I feared being too nerdy. Are you familiar with the maid cafes and butler cafes in Japan?
I’m glad you enjoyed the sneaky visit to check out the Benjaminz greenboo.

@Alex
Thanks for reading and for your observation that a yellow onesie is not always a 100% guarantee. I should have checked the baby’s name in Yuki’s relationship panel . Now I can’t wait to find out the greenboo’s gender.

Niche Nerds in Newcrest: The Sciarri Lineage/Week 1a

Sunday

Selene: When you last saw me, Caleb Vatore and I became engaged then I asked him and his sister Lilith to move in with me.
At the end of my five hours that first day, Watchette built us this two-story house.
We started out with a house while the other households didn’t because obviously vampires can’t tolerate sunlight.

Selene: It’s located on the Optimist’s Outlook lot in eastern Newcrest.
From here, we will take over the rest of this neighborhood then continue expanding.
By the way, I’m a family-oriented genius who loves the outdoors.
Caleb is an ambitious, materialistic foodie, while Lilith is outgoing, creative, and active.

Caleb: What  happened to all our furniture from our Forgotten Hollow home?
As I’ve explained to the other founders, I made the mistake of having Selene ask you to move in while on your lot, not hers.
Your original furniture has simply vanished.

Lilith: Selene starts a new club “Sciarri” and invites Yumiko Watanabe to join because they both love the outdoors.
We’re looking for a full-time gardener.
Well, Yumiko, so nice of you to come over. Interesting outfit you’re wearing!
Yumiko: I’m a forest ranger. That’s why I’m stuck with cargo shorts while you get the va-va-voom outfit.

Selene: When I go downstairs, I suddenly hear ominous music and get strange stomach tingles.
It looks kind of like the male pregnancy by alien abduction, except with purple sparklies.
No, no! Don’t leave the living room! The dining area doesn’t have wall and floor coverings yet! Oh, you’ve ruined my screenshots!

Selene: Can we not talk now? I’m transforming into a vampiiiiiirrrrre!

Selene: In a swirl of dark mist, I shift into my dark form! Rawwrrr!
Oh no, you di’int turn into a vampire so you can wear sneakers and a backward baseball cap!!!
*immediately changes up Selene’s dark form

Caleb: Because we always seem to be racing against some invisible clock, Selene and I elope immediately.
Selene: I already value you more than my life, Caleb darling. What need do we have of a wedding?

Lilith: Yumiko agrees to move in. Turns out she has L5 Gardening and L8 Fishing. How perfect!
Watchette builds a basement floor and transfers all the planters here, though Yumiko isn’t a vampire (now).
Yumiko: I start with seeds from the seed packets, just to get the garden started.
Lilith seems like a nice enough lady and the house is eerily appealing. I think I’ll enjoy living here.
Yumiko’s a treasure! The garden’s been moved downstairs so it can be worked both day and night.

Meanwhile, Lilith moves on to the next potential victim, erm, roomie.
Lilith: So, Diego, how do you like life in San Myshuno? Have you ever considered moving to the ‘burbz?
Diego: Well, I do love this whole Victorian thing you’ve got going on here, Lilith.
You have me intrigued, to be sure!
Llama of Death: Please, please, move in, Diego! Our watcher covered every wall and floor of the first floor just for you!
Diego: Did I just hear a high-pitched screechy voice behind me? Nah….

Selene: Yay, eating for two!  I’ll go into labour around 7 am on Wednesday.
As long as I give birth at home, I won’t miss work!
As the three bloodlines’ watcher, I’m unsure of the wisdom of having nooboos so early, but we’re trying to get heirs out the door ASAP, right?

Lilith: Diego agrees to move in, of course. How could he resist my friendly charm?
Once he and his numerous belongings get settled, we extend the house on the south side to make room for his bedroom.
We also add a veranda on the second floor so Diego can paint.
Diego: I paint?
*coughs (he does now)

Lilith: I call unfair! Why does Diego get his own fab room, while I share a bare room with Yumiko?
Diego: Well, that’s because I’m so very awesome, my dear. It should be obvious.
Yumiko: Practically speaking, the house needs another bath, two showers, and two more toilets!

Yumiko: Thanks for coming with me to Magnolia Promenade, Diego.
Did you realize those three were vampires before you moved in?
Diego: Yeah, Lilith’s elongated canine teeth were a dead giveaway, but I moved in anyway. What’s your story, Yumiko?
Yumiko: I was bored with my work as a forest ranger at Granite Falls.

Diego: I feel overdressed for the occasion, but fishing is oddly entertaining! And I’ve caught two copies of that Encyclopedia Vampirica, a voodoo doll, and two dragonfruit.
Bet you thought I was just a pretty face, right?
Yumiko: Honestly? You completely surprise me, Diego! And I caught a cowberry!
Diego: Well, I was initially put off by your cargo shorts, but you’re all right.
Yumiko: Selene needs to learn to graft and maintain her own garden, I hear. But I’m going to start a cash-crop garden separate from hers.

Selene: I’ve come to Granite Falls to pick herbs because I need to level Gardening as quickly as possible.

Diego: I thought I was slumming by moving to Newcrest.
But playing horseshoes in Granite Falls, dear readers? I’ve hit a new low…

Selene: Caleb and Lilith both have that Vampiric Run power which looks so cool. I’m so envious and can’t wait to be able to do that myself!

Okay, folks, I got what I came for. Let’s head home!

Monday

Selene: Today is my first day at work in the Scientist career. Everything goes well and I arrive home to get promoted to Level 2.
I’m surprised to see Liberty Lee at the Science Lab, since she was unemployed and helping out at Shota’s café just two days ago.

Tuesday

Selene: This morning before work, I reach Level 8 Vampire Lore.
I'll buy the required seeds for my garden for planting when I return from work.

Hey, Diego! What are you two up to in your boudoir?
Diego: Pretty obvious, don’t you think? Yumiko has the Romantic trait and has me feeling all flirty.
You want me to have Yumiko change out of that towel?
Diego: No, actually, I find it an improvement over those cargo shorts. *shudders
She’s actually quite the diamond in the rough, you know. When will you give her a makeover?

You want a makeover, Diego? I’ll give you both makeovers.
Diego: I told you she had potential! And, and, what have you done to me!?
Yumiko: Um, the next time we’re in CAS, could I have a pair of pants with a higher waistband?

Wednesday

Selene: I don't go into labor at 7 am as I expect. But since I’m so close to my next promotion, I leave for work at 10 am anyway.
And when I go into labor at 6 pm, I stay for my entire shift which ends an hour later.
Returning home, I earn my Level 3 promotion then head straight for the baby’s room.

Meet our firstborn son and second-generation heir, Massimo Sciarri!

Yay! You moved in Diego! Oh my word, I love his makeover. He looks like an extremely chic mad scientist. Yumiko's no slouch, either. They look amazing together.
Oh, *ahem* and congratulations on the birth of your heir. Welcome, Massimo!
These new vampires and their dorky dark forms crack me up. None of my game-generated vampires are even remotely spooky. I'm glad you've restored poor Selene's dignity. ;)
I'm just loving this house. You make me want to jump in game and start building with the vampire stuff right now!

And starring Diego as Doctor Horrible!  How nifty!
You are certainly targeting the helpers, aren't you?  I foolishly just ignore who has what skills and move in the spouse and whatever roomies they have (except for when Waldorf abducted the Landgraabs for their bank account).  Perhaps I need to re-think my strategy...?
I really enjoy how you give the helpers spotlight time as well.  Actually, I think they may have upstaged the founder in terms of screenshots and lines, though she did dramatically transform into a vampire and brought in the next generation, so I think that's a win  ;=)

Hard to believe that adorable toddler will grow up to be a vampire. And I don't know who is cuter -- little green Moss or Murasaki with the purple hair. Incidentally, Caleb is a daywalker, so you could have the garden outside if you wanted.

Oh hey Liberty!  So glad to see you taking your life into your own hands and not being shoved into an attic!!!  Good for you.

Only joking, of course, oshizu.  Really cool to get to see the vampires in action, both a transformation and the running!  I bet the Granite Falls trip was a breeze- literally.

Your makeovers are big improvements.  Welcome, Massimo.

@FrancescaFiori
I’m so happy you approve of Diego’s makeover. My image of him from your dynasty is so strong that I had to give him a complete makeover so I wouldn’t shy away from having him lead a new life in my challenge. That house isn’t set up for optimal skilling and pre-work prep—that household are having a hard time leveling and getting job promotions…

@PeregrineTook
Have you seen the links with all the stats on the premade townies here? (I did the one on San Myshuno.) But yes, I definitely plan out which premade townies I want to fill which role, but always like to hunt for waiting-to-be-discovered random townies, too. Like Yumiko, the forest ranger, who we met hanging around our hood.

@MarianT
When Massimo aged up into a toddler, I could see his vampire icon in CAS. Very cool! Thank you for the tip about Caleb’s Daywalker power—I’m still unfamiliar with what all the powers are and what they do.
Presently, though, I’m having the founder do all the gardening which is why the garden had to moved indoors.

@wfgodot
Liberty Lee’s secret is revealed later in this chapter, hehe. The vampires are still very new to me as well, of course, so I’m enjoying the vampires and their Buy/Build objects very much as well.

@sdhoey
Pretty sure I’ll be regretting letting all these nooboos be born during Week 2 when they all need to be trained… I couldn’t resist, though, and wanted to see what the children of the different couples would look like…

1.3  Niche Nerds in Newcrest: Sciarris/Week 1b

Wednesday

Selene: I’ve moved the plasmafruit trees outside to make room for my garden space in this corner area.
I’m close to Level 5 Gardening now, so I can begin grafting this weekend, I bet.

Lilith: Everyone in the household has been settling into their respective roles.
I was working on Fitness at first, but Watchette switched me to the Logic skill.
From a visual perspective, I think it’s better that Caleb levels Fitness…

Caleb: Dearest Selene interrupts my yoga session to request vampire training.
Since I’m a Master Vampire and she is still but a Minor Vampire, I can train her.
Selene: My darling Caleb and his sister Lilith are both Master Vampires, though, so they can’t train each other.

Selene: So when Grand Master Vladislaus phoned to ask if I wanted training, I invite him over for Lilith’s sake.
Lilith: Would you train me please, Grand Master Vladislaus?

Yumiko: I play two roles in this household at the moment.
I kickstarted the main garden, which we’ll downsize a lot after Selene maxes gardening.
Also, my Handiness is close to Level 6 now. When it hits Level 7, I’ll be doing less gardening.

See the lower left icon of the two vampboos? I chose this lot trait under the mistaken assumption that it promotes multiple vampire births.
In fact, it boosts the chance of a vampire birth, even between two human sims. Live and learn.
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that Yumiko’s pregnant? *winks

Lilith: By the way, I’ve picked up another hobby lately! I seem to be making progress!
Vlad: No, not there, Lilith! I’m ticklish!

Lilith: The Grand Master is naught but putty in my hands!
*shares the big news a couple of hours later
Awww, you’re going to be a daddy and that’s all you have to say, Big V?

Caleb: Dude, does that make the Grand Master my brother-in-law?
Lilith: Not yet, but I’m workin’ on it!

Thursday

Diego: I don’t work for hours yet, Selene. Why wake me up so early? Is this about that favor I asked of you?
Selene: Exactly, Diego! The time is right!

Selene: Don’t worry, Diego! My fangs secrete a pleasurable essence—it won’t hurt.
Diego: Thank Carl, Yumiko’s asleep and can’t see me like this. *moans

Selene (bites her wrist): Now feed from me, Diego! Feed, and seal our bond as Mistress and Progeny.

Caleb: Mama’s a little busy right now, little Massimo, but Papa’s here to feed you.
Here’s hoping that Massimo grows up to look like a mini-Caleb!

Diego: I’ve always wanted to become a vampire but find my recent disgust with food quite bewildering. And what are these swirls?

Selene: After work, I invite over my favorite co-worker, Reiko Fujita. We’re both family-oriented!
Instead of the friendly “Offer to turn” social, I opt for the vampiric “Turn into vampire.”
Before drawing her blood, I mesmerize her to nullify her resistance.

In case you’re wondering about my recent spree, I need to turn five sims into vampires for my Vampire Family aspiration.
Three more sims to go! We all know who’s next!

Friday

Selene: My already devastatingly handsome Caleb has the Vampiric Allure power which he can use to create an Alluring Visage.
It envelops him in a red mist and, apparently, makes him more attractive to others.
Does he even need to do that? Should I be worried? Would it be an asset for a Serial Romantic?

Yumiko: Selene leaves for work in 2.5 hours so I have just enough time!
A lightning-swift trip to learn the woodworking schematic at Granite Falls.
Ach, my back is killing me! And no, I don’t miss my cargo shorts at all!

Selene: I return from work at 7 to find Diego floating above the front steps.
He’s transforming!

Yumiko: Oh the suspense! What will he look in his dark form?

Caleb: Is it just me, or are the flipflops somewhat of a buzzkill?

Saturday

Yumiko: At 5 am, I give birth to a baby girl. Diego and I name her Ilaria Lobo.
As you face the bassinets, that’s Massimo on the left and our Ilaria on the right.
Please pronounce her name with the emphasis on the second syllable “la” (like “malaria” but waaaay cuter).

Yumiko: I’ve just finished changing Ilaria’s diaper and breast-feeding her when Selene calls me over.

Selene: And just like that, Yumiko becomes my third progeny.
The transformation of Selene’s co-worker and Yumiko might resemble that of Selene.
That is, the transformation process might mainly take place while we are away with the other households, then be completed on the day we return to the Sciarris.

Little boy: Heyo, my name’s Massimo Sciarri and I just aged up to a toddler.
Our Watchette tells me to pose so I crawl down the stairs over by the Sexy Mosquito Trap!

And yes, I'm a born vampire with violet eyes like Mama. You’ll see more of me and my friend Ilaria two weeks from now! *waves bye-bye

And when the clock strikes midnight, we leave the Sciarri household for the Benjaminz’ home.
And thus ends the first week of “Niche Nerds in Newcrest" for all three lineages.

Author’s Notes

Pacing: I’m completely clueless about how to pace myself for the Rival Dynasties Challenge. For the first week, therefore, I focused only on each founder’s career and spouse, financial stability, the choice of helpers and their roles, and starting the ball rolling for the specific requirements of each bloodline.

Liberty Lee: She did not autonomously get a job and start working to get away from Shota’s maid and butler café. In fact, I had her join the Scientist career myself, but just forgot since I’ve never joined her at work. Durrrr.

Nooboos/Toddlers: I might have gotten carried away, haha. I realized yesterday that I’ll be playing one week with each lineage of non-stop toddlers.

Chapter Length: In order to sustain a forward momentum, I’m ruthlessly editing my screenshots to limit myself to two 25-image chapters a week for each household's "week." hope you’re not finding the chapter contents too disjointed or hard to follow. Week 1 consisted mostly of introducing all the household members.
I’ll be uploading family trees for each lineage very soon.

Thanks for reading!

Two human sims can have a vampire baby?! That sounds...odd. Although I suppose no odder than having vampires living in the neighbourhood full stop, now I'm thinking about it.
