How to stop the singing

I thought it would be cool if one of my household sims won a karaoke contest so he's been learning singing.

After he left for school today, though, I could still hear him singing, even after resetting the mike and then placing the mike in storage.
When he came home, I had him tell jokes on that same mike.
Sadly, his awful singing can still be heard. Does anyone know any trick to silence that disembodied singing voice?

As a last resort, I guess I could lower the "object volume"....

P.S. I'll try restarting once my working sim gets home.

Not that it is related but I hopped into build mode as soon as I moved my sim into an apartment and then proceeded to have 3 music tracks playing at the same time! Luckily it eventually sorted itself out as usually you have to quit and restart for things like that to stop. I think since the patch things are just a tad buggy.

But yep, traveling or quitting and restarting should solve your never ending singing.

After suffering over one real-life hour of off-key operatic scales and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star in pseudo-German, the singing stopped.

Just now, I switched to my working sim to check when he'd get off work. When I then switched to another sim, that awful singing had disappeared, lol.

If not, I would definitely have tried traveling. Thanks for the suggestion; I'd forgotten that traveling to another lot is often a viable alternative to exiting/restarting.
