Game won't save

I have a new computer & re-downloaded Sims3 and all my packs, and copied my saves over from my old computer. I've done this before with no issues, so I don't think it's my transfer process. However, this time around I'm having issues with my transferred game. I can open and play with no issues, but I can't save  .  I don't get a number with the can't save message, just a "microsoft has encountered an error and the file cannot be saved" message. I can start a new game and play and save no problems, I just can't play then save my transferred game. Arrgh! any ideas?

At this point I've changed the back up to a new file with new name (saving an extra back up of course), made copies of the original and changed the name (in file explorer), tried changing the name when saving the game within Sims3, from the original and the various copies with different names - arrrrgh!

This is my longest playing game with a lot of history so I really, really want to figure this out. Worst case scenario, if I can at least save the family and their house, with all their job experiences, degrees, etc. ANY suggestions truly appreciated.

This may be a corrupt game save. The longer you play the bigger the file gets and the more possibility of glitches. If Save As, given a new name hasn't worked. The other alternative is to see if they still load on your old computer.

If they do, go into the game and save the family and house to the library and then export them so you can transfer them to you new computer.  Here are some links to help with that.
