"I don't want this!" I screamed.

"Alyssa please." Mother begged.

"NO! Can't you for once listen to me?! Give me a chance to have some say in what happens in my life!"

"It has to happen!"

"Yeah, you've told me that. However you failed to mention I had a brother." I snapped crossing my arms.

The color in their faces vanished.

"How did you know about that?" Father asked.

"So it's true!"

"I demand that you tell us how you found out."

I looked him straight in the eyes, "I snooped through your office."

"Well I hope you found everything you are looking for because after this talk that office will be locked."

"Don't worry, I did."

"Good, because it is never to be brought up again. Understood?"

"Yes father." I sighed.

...

"His name is Anthony and he comes from the Smith family. They are our biggest partners in our business. He is the only son and a hardworking gentlemen." Mother told me.

I just nodded.

"Please Alyssa. Please just give him a try."

"So is he the one I'm marrying?" I asked.

She just gave me a look, and that was all I needed. I walked with mom as she led me to the room.

"Alyssa this is Anthony, and Anthony this is my daughter Alyssa." Mother introduced.

"It is truly a pleasure to finally meet such a beautiful woman." He said, using his charm.

"Well thank you sir." I smiled.

"I'll leave you two alone." Mother said excusing herself.

I stood there awkwardly.

"So, you're an only child too?" He asked.

"Yes."

"It has it's perks, all the nice expensive things." He said sticking his chin in the air.

"Money doesn't matter to me."

His eyes bugged out of his head.

"Well with all due respect madam Alyssa it should!"

"Money cannot buy happiness!" I told him.

"It sure helps, and without money we wouldn't be who we are. I am thankful for money."

"I'm sure you are."

I walked over and sat at the desk.

"Listen, I don't know how you got to be so disrespectful but you should be happy to have the money you do!" He snapped.

"I am grateful for the things I have and grateful that I am fortunate enough to not have to struggle. I just don't like shoving my fortune in peoples face!"

With that, I got up and walked away not caring if I was being rude.

A Couple Days Later...

"Alyssa Haystings! I raised you better!" Mother came in the room screaming.

I closed my eyes, here we go.

"I'm sorry mother." I apologized.

"You are lucky I was able to convince him to come back! He is on his way now! So I suggest you check your attitude and apologize to him!"

"Yes mother."

She shook her head and walked out of the room, minuted later Anthony walked in.

"I would like to start over." He said.

"I apologize for my actions yesterday." I told him.

"No need, we all have our weak moments."

I bit my tongue.

...

"Your mother was nice to arrange this date for us." Anthony said.

"She was." I agreed.

"It must have been nice growing up in this mansion. A lot of nice things, hired help, it almost is as big as my family's mansion." He commented.

I smiled and played along, "Why yes, it was amazing growing up in this house."

He smiled, obviously pleased with my answer.

"So what do you look for in a wife?" I asked.

He looked taken back.

"Well, she must fulfill the normal duties."

"Which are?" I asked.

"Making sure my needs are taken care of, and making sure the cleaning and cooking gets taken care of."

"Shouldn't be too hard." I played along.

"You have beautiful eyes." He commented.

I was surprised he noticed something other then himself or nice possessions.

"Thank you Anthony."

"I have a feeling this is going to be the start of something wonderful." He commented.

I smiled.

...

"It was wonderful mother." I told her smiling.

"I knew you'd like him my dear!" She beamed.

"We have another date set for next week."

"That's wonderful news!"

With that I got up and headed upstairs and closed my bedroom. I slipped my shoes off and put them away before getting changed into my pajamas. I brushed my hair as I thought about what the future held with Anthony.

Not the best update, but it's something! Glad you guys are enjoying the story so far! =]

If I was Alyssa, I'd take off running as fast as I could.  That Anthony is an MCP for sure!  (Male, chauvinist, pig).  Make sure all HIS needs are met.  Hmmmpf!

"Mother said you were out here." I said sitting down.

"It's such a nice night." He said.

"It is." I agreed.

We just sat there in silence for a little bit.

"What gardener does your parents hire?" He asked.

"His name is Derek Jefferson." I told him.

"He could use some work." He critiqued.

I looked at him funny.

"His work doesn't come close to comparing to what our gardener does."

"He does the best he can to make my parents happy, and he also is a single parent of three girls so I would appreciate it if you stop judging him." I warned.

"I've never met someone like you who cares for the hired staff." He huffed.

"Someone like me?"

"You know, rich."

"Is that all you think about?"

"Why wouldn't you think about money all the time?"

"Okay, well I think it's time I excuse myself for the evening." I told him.

"Of course my lady." He said.

...

"So I tell them that I don't want their food because I could've came up with something better blindfolded, and I've never cooked once in my life." He told me.

I faked a laugh and agreed with him.

"Your mother told me she is happy that she found me for you."

"I know, she's happy that I'm happy." I lied.

"I would love to have another date with you."

"Yeah?"

"I would."

"Okay."

"Tomorrow night?"

"Sounds perfect."

He smiled and excused himself for the evening. I walked back into the house and told father that I had another date with Mr. Smith tomorrow night. I wanted to be happy, I did. I just didn't love this man, and I was bitter about the fact that I had to marry him. I sighed and sat on my bed, I guess I was just going to have to make the best of this situation. A small smile came to my lips, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't happy that I'd at least get a child out of this. I wanted to be a mother some day and I promised myself that It'd be different for my child. She or he would not have to put up with being rich and having that burden of always being the "good girl" and being "proper".

...

"You look stunning." Anthony told me.

"Thank you." I said.

"So tell me, do you like me?" He asked.

"Of course." I told him.

"I know I can come off strong in my opinions but I hope that hasn't ruined my chances with you."

"Never."

"My buddies are not going to believe that you're mine." He told me.

I just smiled pretending like the fact that I was going to be his property or possession didn't bother me.

We spent the entire night outside just talking and learning more about each other.

"I can't believe the sun is up already." He laughed.

"I can't believe that my parents let me stay outside with a boy all night." I giggled.

"I can't believe that I just spent the entire night with the most beautiful women alive."

He walked closer to me, I looked in his eyes and he slowly kissed me.

"And with that, I'm going to excuse myself." He said.

He just left with a smile on his face.

I walked into the house and got changed into my normal clothes. Mother came in my room once I was decent and sat on my bed.

"So, how was it?" She asked.

Like talking to a child who cares only for himself and his 'possessions'. But don't worry mother, soon I will become his property. I thought to myself.

"It was fine." I told her.

"Did you guys get to know each other better?" She asked.

I nodded.

"I saw that he kissed you!"

I smiled a little bit, "He did."

"Was it nice?"

"Yeah, it took me by surprise though." I told her.

We talked for a bit longer before she left me to work on some things.

So he kissed her... She's still not impressed though. Will she eventually fall in love with him? Or forever be miserable? Hmmm.... =P

A Couple Months Later...

"Madam Alyssa, your mother and father have left for the evening. They hired a cook for your supper. It'll be ready in about an hour." Thomas told me.

"Thank you Thomas." I smiled.

I sent Anthony a quick text letting him know my plans for the night. He claimed that he worried about me, but I knew that he just wanted to know because he can be controlling. I decided to clean my room since my parents were gone. I liked doing things for myself, but when they were here they insisted on hiring people do do things. My phone rang, Anthony.

"Hello?"

"Hey beautiful, how about instead of staying in tonight I pay for a spa night." He suggested.

"No, I'm fine. I actually have something I need to get done for mother."

"Really. Okay, well I just thought that you'd like to relax."

"Anthony I am relaxed." I said, not falling for his guilt trip.

"Okay, well I just called to offer. I love you."

"Love you too."

We hung up and I sighed.

...

"This is my daughter Alyssa." Mother introduced me.

We were at a charity ball where funds were being raised to help children with disabilities. I normally hated going to stupid dinner parties, however this wasn't a dinner party. At least by going to this I was able to give back to the community, so I was eager when these dates came up.

"Hello." I smiled as I shook the girls hand.

"Now, Mrs. Haystings. I'm from out of town but my friend told me that you had two children..."

Mother's face lost all its color and I wondered how she was going to spin this one.

She smiled and gave a small laugh, "I assure you that Alyssa is the only child my husband and I have."

"Oh, so you don't have another child?"

"Why mess with perfection?" Mother smiled and looked at me.

I smiled politely.

"Curious." The girl mumbled and walked away.

"Why don't you go get us some punch darling?"

"Oh, I'm allowed to do that?" I asked.

"Alyssa." Mother warned.

I decided not to push it any farther.

...

"Oh Alyssa! I'm glad you came inside! Your suitor has left you a present! I put it in your room." Mother said.

"Thank you mother."

I headed up to my room and sure enough there was a big rectangular box with a red ribbon holding it shut sitting on my bed. I walked over to it and picked it up. I slowly untied the red ribbon and opened the box, a note laid on the white tissue paper:

My Dear Alyssa,

I hope you enjoy your gift, I bought it personally for you.
Please wear it for our date tonight. I will be over promptly
at 7 PM at the bench behind your house. That one you told
me about? Where you go to think. Please be ready.

Love,
Anthony

"Okay..." I whispered.

I removed the tissue paper and my eyes got wide.

What in the hell...? I thought.

I pulled out this dress. I can't even begin to describe what it looked like. It looked like he went into my great grandmas closet and picked it out. I held it up, I was truly thankful that no one was up here with me to see my horrified look. I groaned as I began to change into it and headed to the mirror.

"Oh my god..."

"Oh Alyssa!" My mother said walking in.

I turned around.

"That is so modest and elegant!"

I wouldn't say elegant...

"Thank you mother." I smiled.

"This must be a special date if he went through the trouble of picking out something for you!" She beamed.

"I'm surprised he knew my size!"

"Well it's almost 7 now my dear, so I'll leave you alone to finish getting ready. I would recommend not wearing a necklace tonight since the dress is a turtle neck."

"Okay mother."

I turned back around as she left the room.

"You can do this Alyssa." I told myself.

...

What could he possibly want? And what's so special about this date that he bought me this... dress?

"Alyssa?"

I looked up.

"Stand up! Let me see you!" Anthony said.

I got off the bench and spun around slowly.

"Simply beautiful! Red if your color my darling." He said.

I smiled.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"I love it Anthony! It's quite wonderful." I said.

"Good good, let's sit down."

"You know I love you." He said.

"I know you do Anthony."

"I think that this is going well so far, don't you?"

"Of course!"

"You are so beautiful, inside and out. I'm glad your parents came to mine, if they hadn't then you wouldn't be so lucky to have met me."

Oh come on... Really?

"I know."

"Don't you worry your pretty little head though, I'm right here and not going anywhere." He said.

...

It's been about an hour and all we've done is sit and talk about the future.

"Come here." Anthony said.

I took his hand and followed him.

"My darling Alyssa..." He started.

"Our families have plans, and our families have demands. We're here where we are because of those. However, I believe in happiness and being with someone forever. It would bring me such honor to have a wife like you. So, instead of wasting time by asking you to go study with me, I purpose that we just skip to the marriage part. Alyssa," He said getting on his knee, "Will you marry me?"

"Oh Anthony!" I gasped.

"Is that a yes?" He asked.

"Of course!"

"I'm so happy! I was worried you'd say no! I was worried I'd have to fight harder to call you mine!"

"It was bound to happen sooner or later! So why wait!" I smiled, inside I was dying.

"Here's to the rest of our lives." He said.

Poor Alyssa...
Hopefully this didn't seem rushed! It felt a little rushed! I hope I'm not going too fast!!!

Ok, I just gotta say this and hope I don't offend anyone.  This jerk is really, REALLY starting to tick me off!  For that matter, so is that milk toast Alyssa.  WAKE UP GIRL!  I love the way you are writing the story but oh, I just want to shake her and give her a back bone and kick him where it would hurt the most!  Once you allow someone to control your life that much you are in for eons of misery and she should know that.  Poor little rich girl needs to wake up and grind the coffee herself, let alone smell it.

I'm not trying to be King Fanboy or anything, but I just want to say, this is why I love Ally's stories so much. She's telling the tale of a digital girl who doesn't exist except inside her hard drive, and we readers get so emotionally involved! Ally, I hope Alyssa is eventually happy, but don't ever stop creating drama and conflict, because this tension is why we all visit. I love it!

Please don't get me wrong.  I LOVE the story and especially the way it's being written.
It's the first time I've read one where I can get so emotionally involved with a character I want to give them a shake.

"Alyssa! Alyssa come downstairs please!"

"Now what?" I asked under my breath.

I walked downstairs reluctantly.

"Oh! Anthony what a nice surprise..." I said.

"Hello darling." He greeted.

"How has your day been going?" He asked.

"Okay, how about yours?" I asked.

"Awesome, went to brag to my buddies about the most beautiful girl that I scored."

"You scored?"

"Yeah, you're officially mine."

"Anthony, now that we are going to be married I would appreciate it if you would stop treating me like I'm your property!"

"I think you're a little out of line Alyssa, don't you?"

"No! I do not! I'm not something to be owned! I am going to be your wife! Your partner!"

"Partner? Honey, while I appreciate your enthusiasm about being my wife I do hope you know that I will be the man of the house."

"Meaning?"

"You have to listen to me!"

"I have to listen to you?!"

"Yes! What I say goes!"

I crossed my arms.

"Is that a problem?"

"Why yes Anthony it is!"

He went to argue with me but sighed instead.

"Listen, we don't have to talk about this now. Alyssa please, I want to have a good day with you."

"Alyssa please."

I sighed, "Fine."

"I really do love you."

"I love you too." If I have too...

...

I don't want to marry him. Every instinct in my body is telling me not too. I thought as I glanced out the window.

I brought the subject up to mother and father, and let's just say that things did not go as planned.

"Alyssa I will NOT go over this again!" Mother said.

"Then please help me understand this more!"

"Alyssa, this has to be done!" Father argued.

"Why does it have to be done now?! Why can't I choose who I want to marry?!"

"Don't you worry about that, all we are saying is that we can't wait any longer."

"Why because the money is running low?"

"Alyssa! Do. Not. Push us on this."

"This is so unfair that I'm being forced to marry that... PIG!"

"He is a nice gentleman who loves you."

"Yeah I bet he can't wait to claim me as his property!"

"Alyssa..."

"No mother! That's EXACTLY what he thinks of me!"

"That's enough! You are marrying him and that's final!"

I threatened to leave, and they threatened to call the cops claiming that I stole all their money and a bunch of other horrible crimes. I got to see just how sick my parents were that day.

...

Today was the day...

I let my smile fade as the gardener passed. I sat on the fountain and looked at the ground as the tears welled up in my eyes. I let a few fall as I thought about what was going to happen. Would I eventually fall in love with him? Or would I be miserable my whole life? The only good coming out of this was a child, and even then I could see a list of cons. I barely wanted to kiss him let alone do... that with him.

"Alyssa."

I wiped my tears away quickly before turning around.

"It's time to get ready." Mother told me.

"Okay."

I followed her upstairs and into my room where there were several workers there to do my hair, make up, and help me get dressed. I hardly believed it when I looked at the clock, it took us hours to get me ready. I walked downstairs and into the backyard where Anthony stood by the fountain.

"Anthony?"

He turned around.

"Wow."

"I hope that's a good wow." I giggled.

"So, shall we get married?" He asked smiling.

I nodded, afraid that my words would betray me like my parents did.

We exchanged the traditional vows and sealed it with a kiss.

"We are now married." He smiled.

"I'm all yours." I said.

"As do I belong to you now my darling."

"So, now what?" I asked.

"Now, we go up to you- I mean our bedroom." He said, hinting at something I was dreading.

I stood there and looked at him.

"Alyssa?"

I looked at him.

"Are you coming?" He asked, holding out his hand.

I felt like I was going to puke.

I didn't want to do this, please.

He didn't wait for an answer, instead he just grabbed my hand and led me inside and up to my room.

I am SO glad that you guys are enjoying this story! And I'll let you in on a little secret.... I despise Anthony too, I hate writing his parts. Trust me, I do. But I have to do it for the story, because I have to follow the story line that's running through my head. I can't tell you anymore though without giving anything away!
