2015 Challenge Tournament Finale: Let Us Entertain You

Goal
It's the last challenge of the 2015 Tournament season and the team really wants to entertain you. Actually, it's your two Sims who will do the entertaining — one of them will be taking the Comedy branch of the Entertainer career, and the other must take the Musician branch. The goal is simple: your Sims need to make as much money as possible from all things related to entertainment.

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules

• Create two Young Adult Sims — no restrictions on traits.
• You are allowed to use the Buydebug cheat for the sole purpose of purchasing a satellite to prevent abductions. Take the satellite with you when moving to prevent using Buydebug again.
• No adding to the household.
• Careers must be joined on Day 1.
• One Sim must choose the Comedy branch of the Entertainer career, and the other must choose the Musician branch.
• Vacations are fine, but no quitting your job or intentionally missing days of work.
• If you decide to throw any parties, then the Host Prestige Social Event option must be unchecked.
• All household income is restricted to:

** the Entertainer career,
** selling Entertainment career rewards,
** licensing songs (instrument skill),
** write jingles (Musician branch career),
** performing songs and receiving tips (instrument skill),
** writing comedy books (comedy skill),
** performing comedy routines (comedy skill).

• This challenge ends when your two Sims have aged up to Elder — you cannot extend the Young Adult or Adult stages in any way.

Scoring

Your score is your total Household Funds at the point when your two Sims have aged up to Elder.

Household Funds — When your Sims have aged up to Elder pause the game and simply note your total Household Funds towards the bottom left of the screen.     

Ch-Ch-Changes
The team does not want to edit and make changes to the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else we reserve the right to ask affected players to redo their effort.

Please think hard before you ask in the challenge thread because it may be strategy. What you may consider an innocent question could cause another player to go — “oh, I did not think of doing that.” It’s always safer to PM everyone on the team (Metro, ratchie, Nutella, LenaLJ, Trip, and MarianT) for clarifications. Well, technically yes. You would be adding to household income by selling. Selling Entertainment rewards is fine though.

Probably the hardest challenge yet - it's simple as you have the list of things you can sell, but the ways you can make income are limited very strictly so chances are your Sims won't be rich by the time they reach elder. Still, I'd like to see the strats people come up with, which won't be until the event closes four days before my 43rd birthday. Good luck everyone!

Nope. That came up in team discussion which is why we have the following rule:

• If you decide to throw any parties, then the Host Prestige Social Event option must be unchecked.

I like the sound of this.  Sounds like it will be enjoyable and impossible to fail, even with my track record.  (Touch wood at not tempting fate where both sims die tragically in a house fire or running out of time to play  .)

As far as I can see you cannot do this with dates. So are dates banned or can we just ignore the rewards?

We'll see what the rest of the team says - the main thing is to not sell the rewards because then you'd be breaking the rule that all income has to come from the Entertainer career.

So, if jingles are okay, I'll press my luck and ask if the bit of money that occasionally comes from practicing, gathering inspiration or writing a song in public is okay, or do those activities need to be confined to the privacy of the Sims' own lot?

I honestly do not know how much money you're talking about, but I assume it's negligible. So, no worries on that.
