Chapter 3
I was up early the next morning and headed out to the park. I love being outside in the fresh air and I knew that whatever I did to make money it had to involve being outside.
Burgers for breakfast, probably not the breakfast of champions but I was hungry and they were good.
And then that's when I saw her. Well, saw her hair. The way the sun danced across it and made it look like she was wearing a halo. I was captivated. I'd never seen hair that color before. It was beautiful.
She came over to sit down and read her book and I remember telling myself not to blow it.
I said 'Hi' and acted casual, you know, not to look crazy or anything but man, she was as beautiful as her hair.
I asked her what she did for a living, just making small talk and such. Sheesh, what a doofus. It was obvious she tended the gardens there! She looked pretty incredulous at being asked that but I was smitten so I just took a deep breath and carried on chatting trying to hide my embarrassment.
She said she had to get back to work. I blurted out that I wanted to take her on a date. She took a moment to think and I'm sure my heart missed a beat. I remember a slow smile lighting up her face as she nodded quietly.
Before she went to tend the plants I told her how lovely she looked. I wanted her to spend the afternoon thinking about me as I was pretty sure I'd be thinking about her. And then she was gone.
I spent the remainder of the day fishing, getting on with making some sort of self-employed-career-come-business. I had a plan to sell the fish to a local pub who said they needed fresh fish daily for their pub lunch menu.
I knew it wasn't going to make me rich quick but I've always believed that the best things in life don't come easily. Besides, I was pretty confident that I could really make a go of this. People always need to eat and so getting into the food industry had to be a sure thing. I found myself thinking about her as the afternoon passed. It seemed to be too long to wait until that evening to see her again.
I'd caught a few weed-fish and decided to head deeper into the park to try my luck.
Within in seconds I'd struck gold. One of the retired fisherman said it was beginners luck.
Pretty good luck as minutes later I hooked into another Angelfish. This was definitely a sign of good things to come. Who has ever heard of such luck. I was on cloud 9.
And pretty much stayed that way right until I saw her again. She took my breath away.
It was crazy. Before meeting Perry I would have told you that I didn't have a romantic bone in my body but she did something too me. It was like we had known each other forever, not just met that morning.
We spend the night talking and laughing. I'd never felt so connected to another sim, apart from my family, of course.
As I ordered another round of drinks for us I remember looking at Perry and feeling like her and I were just meant to be. Simple, didn't need to be dramatic... it just was. If you haven't loved like that then you'll never understand what it was like for me. For us, as I'm pretty sure she felt the same way too.
We danced for hours. I only had eyes for her. Perry said half jokingly that she'd have to mark me as taken as all the other girls were staring at me. I didn't notice anyone else there apart from her.
In fact I would swear on my father's grave that we were the only two people in that bar that night. I just don't remember seeing anyone else there.
Dawn had just broken when Perry and I left for a walk down by the river. I think the barman was really pleased to see us go.
I asked Perry to move in with me, to go with her heart and take a risk on me.
And then I told her I was going to kiss her.
So I did.
The next thing I remember was waking up on a bench quite a few hours later. I was gutted. I knew I had blown it and there would be no chance of Perry forgiving me. After all who asks a girl out, asks them to move in and then falls asleep on them. It was just my luck, my rotten luck, as usual.
