@Tixxis, I'm not sure what you mean by the question. Are you asking if there are fewer NPCs than in a town where I don't have so many families? If so, I don't know; I don't really have a game where I've played a single household for the same amount of time.

Yes, that is exactly what I was asking. I wondered if it would have an impact on the GTW careers.
Don't mind my question. I do enjoy your storytelling a lot.

Thank you! As for impact on the  GTW careers, I don't think so. I have about 5 other scientists at work, 3 other doctors, and then the patients are much the same as my sims' customers with some children added.

@Tixxis, I just went into Manage Households to find out how many sims I do have in town. I've played 140 sim days, and I have 25 sims in my 8 families. In Unplayed Households, I have 138 sims. I've read several places that the game starts culling when you reach 180, so I'm close to the limit.

Thank you for looking this up. Playing multiple families doesn't seem to affect NPC numbers at all. That's a good thing.
The possiblitlity of the game culling at a population of 180 is frightening. Fingers crossed. Hopefully, it won't happen to you.

Round Six

Chapter 29 – The Dahls, Lewises, and Bagleys

Benson decided to see whether he could improve on their meals by upgrading the stove with his Dahlray.

Bristol was not pleased with the result.

Of course, she was the one who had to go over to Steampunk to buy a new stove.

That day at work, Benson was encouraged to explore the "evil" side of the Science career. He pretended to fire Naomi Wilsonoff.

But he felt so guilty about it that he donated $1000 to charity immediately afterwards (without his Watcher's approval).

Benson wanted to make contact with the aliens, and the satellite dish, so far, wasn't accomplishing that. He found out that Stacy Lee had added a rocket kit to her supply of appliances. Early Saturday morning, he went over to Steampunk to buy one.

Lucienne has been trying to decide which is more fun – steering a pirate ship...

...or scanning the space-time continuum for monsters.

Against Bristol's advice, Benson decided to improve upon their shower.

He didn't succeed in upgrading the shower, but he did get a Crisponix Ultra-Deluxe refrigerator, the one with the crisper that's so great it causes you to bladder-fail.

Things have been hectic at the Lewises – so hectic that there aren't many pictures. Geoffrey has taken a job in retail as a shelf-stocker. He made a little progress by going with a traditional cube arrangement of disposable diapers as opposed to something more creative. Jack needs to exercise some more before he can become a teen, and the girls are all working at becoming artistic prodigies. Luckily, there's only one violin.

Olivia has been working on her garden in order to have ingredients for some excellent herbal remedies.

Johnny has been making slow progress as a C-Lister, and has discovered that you have to grease the pan thoroughly before making scrambled eggs.

Oddly enough, Nancy, who has the neat trait, is the happiest in the family. Although the messes bother her, she can always have fun cleaning up.

Shayna loved making cakes. You always knew where you were with cakes. You assembled the right ingredients, mixed them together, cooked them for the right amount of time, and voila! You had a good or excellent or maybe even impeccable cake.

People were different. Take ex-boyfriends for example. She'd told Antonio they were through, caput, finished, but he insisted on coming around. Usually he'd show up when Elaine was there, ostensibly to see his daughter, which Shayna couldn't refuse. But one morning he appeared on the doorstep right after Elaine left for school, before Shayna had left to open the bakery.

"Gee, you're beautiful in the morning, honey," he flirted.

It had been a long time since Shayna had heard a compliment. She flirted back.

The next thing she knew, Antonio was kissing her. Quickly she pushed him away.

"Your eyes tell me no-no, but there's yes-yes in your lips," he joked.

"I have to go open the shop," Shayna said hastily. "I have work to do, unlike some people I could mention."

But dealing with Antonio was easy, compared to a teen-aged daughter.

"It's a pity we don't have a curfew in Oasis Springs," Cassandra remarked one morning. "Gunther knows he's supposed to come home straight after work, but some nights I'm too tired to check up on him. And I know it would make it easier for you to deal with Elaine."

"What do you mean?" Shayna asked.

Cassandra grimaced. "I hate to be the one to tell you, but I heard about it from Bill, who heard about it from Stacy, who heard about it from her brother Peter, who was there. Apparently Elaine was at the pool late the other night, hanging out with J. Huntington III and -- " her voice dropped – "Don Lothario."

That afternoon Elaine got an earful when she came to the cafe after school.

"Young lady, you are grounded," Shayna told her. "From now on, you're doing your exercising at home.  You can go to school, and your job, and you can come here, but every other lot is off limits. Do you hear me?"

"But all we talked about was sports," Elaine protested.

"That might have been all they talked about, but that wasn't all that they were thinking," said Shayna. "Once you're grown up, you can do what you want, although I hope you won't make the same mistakes I did, but until then, like I said, you're grounded."

Loved it! Ha, I'd ground Elaine too! The unexpected results from the sim ray had me giggling, sometimes it really works to your advantages, other times, not so much! lol

Haha, of course, Elaine would be chilling with J and Don.  I love how you show Peter there, looking on, after explaining how the grapevine worked.
There can be no secrets in a town where everyone shops at each other's stores.

Hoping that Stacy keeps Antonio at arm's length....aren't there other available bachelors in OS?
I laughed at neat Nancy's happy face. Can't imagine managing a household with five kids in child stage.
Great chapter!

Chapter 30 – The A. Goths, Pancakes, and S. Lees

Most of the time Alexander was in too much of a hurry to examine the stone standing in front of the lab, but one morning he took time to examine it. It was a petroglyph hinting at robots and dogs perhaps.

One day he was offered the opportunity to become an evil scientist, but he knew that was something that would disappoint his father. So, instead of going off to insult some tourist, Alexander worked on the rocket instead.

He couldn't, however, resist trying out one of the new functions on his Mortray – that of getting another sim to clean. The lab was becoming a bit messy – debris from his repair job on Mort scattered around, scorch marks on the floor near a chair that someone had tried, unsuccessfully, to transform, that sort of thing. With a sigh, Alexander approached Zachary Johnson.

"I could use one of these in the shop," Alexander mused as he watched Zachary clean surfaces that didn't appear to be dirty. "Anyone who comes in, just to window-shop, bam – they're cleaning the counter instead."

But that was the extent of Alexander's foray into mischievousness. When it came time to test his snake oil serum, he decided to try it out on himself. It tasted a little funny, but he didn't see what the problem was, until --

At home he tried to make Cornelia's bed a little more comfortable. He only succeeded in making it warmer. Luckily Janessa was on hand with the fire extinguisher. He did better with one of the eggs he'd picked up, turning it into Seduction by the Sea, a romance that would put anyone in the mood.

That evening Janessa took Cornelia to the park, so she could go across the monkey bars three times. Naturally, Cornelia had to show off her latest trick.

The next morning Isobel helped Cornelia with her homework. She was almost an A student now.

Much as he loved his daughters, though, there were times when they got on his nerves. It wasn't them so much, it was the dippy little tune of Cornelia's Keyboard Commander game, and the bits of wisdom that Isobel kept sharing from her book on charisma, like "To have a friend, be a friend."

Maybe he'd look into becoming an evil scientist after all.

Bill Pancakes was beginning to enjoy his job, now that he'd been promoted to orderly and had more responsibilities. Besides the usual tasks of mopping up spills, smoothing down beds, and escorting patients to a treatment room, he was actually allowed to do things with patients besides deliver their food. Things like checking their ears and eyes, taking a swab, and taking their temperature.

Bill still couldn't make a diagnosis on his own; once he'd analyzed a swab, he had to turn the patient over to a doctor. But once a diagnosis had been made, he could give the medicine to a patient.

He was even allowed to give Jeremiah Parkham a shot. Wisely, Bill didn't tell Jeremiah that this was the first time he'd ever stuck a needle into anybody.

But hometime was still the best time. He finished his latest screenplay, A Night to Remember, and started on a non-fiction expose, The Cut-N-Gut HMO. He hoped for rave reviews for the latter. Even with his books selling well, Bill's proudest moment was when Robert told him he'd brought his grades up to a B.

Cassandra was pretty proud, too.

"Qiriki, there were a couple of things that I should have told you before we got married," Waldemar said to Stacy one morning. It was her day off from the hospital, so she didn't have to go to work.

"You mean, like the fact that you're an alien?" she said.

"You knew that already," said Waldemar. "No, the truth is that I'm just not happy being a scientist. I'd much rather fish and play with the children's toys."

"Oh," said Stacy. "Well, how about this. You give me a satellite dish and a ray gun that I can sell in the shop, and then you can quit."

The next day at work, Waldemar ignored all the tasks that had been lined up for him and concentrated on making those two items. He finished with about an hour to spare, and headed for the fishing hole.

The next morning he phoned in his resignation. He and Stacy took their items over to the shop, and Stacy put them up for sale.

Soon after that, customers started showing up. Cassandra Goth was the first to buy a ray gun.

That evening, they had a small party, inviting over Stacy's brother Peter and one of Waldemar's friends, Janessa Galvan. The two of them seemed to hit it off.

Meanwhile, Qatzi and Qimi chatted to each other outside. They were in a race to see who could become a teen first. Qatzi was at level 8 of the creativity skill, but still had to practice the violin for a few more hours (a sure way of gaining the alone time she desired), while Qimi was at level 6 of the mental skill and had to make 3 emotion potions.

"Did you see the lights?" Stacy asked the two girls as she hurried outdoors. She didn't wait for an answer.

The little dancing lights became a column.

An hour or so later Stacy was floated back down to earth.

Her anti-gravity device ceased before she quite reached the ground, and she landed with a bump.

Dazed and confused, she stumbled indoors and climbed into bed.

Chapter 31 – The P. Lees and C. Goths

Soon after meeting Janessa Galvan at his sister's, Peter invited her over to his house. They talked for a long time. Janessa, he discovered, was outgoing, self-assured, and a perfectionist. She also had achieved the highest level of fitness.

In short, if she didn't want him to kiss her, she was perfectly capable of preventing that.

The kiss was astounding, so astounding that it made him feel as if he was being drawn upwards in a beam of light.

Which, in fact, he was.

The next day, Peter felt a bit of a twinge in his midriff. He assumed it was a residual effect of his abduction.

He called Janessa and invited her over, so that they could pick up where they'd left off.  Peter proposed.

And they got married.

It turned out that Janessa's aspiration was to become a Freelance Botanist, so she set up a garden.

She also discovered that she was pregnant.

Peter's discovery that he was pregnant came without any confetti.

At work the next day, Peter had to deal with two of the Lewis triplets. Alicia wasn't any trouble – as long as he didn't try to take any blood. "I'm squeamish," she said. "So you'd better not make me freak out."

But Erica – "You're so fat you look like you're pregnant," she informed him.

"Open wide, kid," said Peter.

It wasn't every husband that got to share pregnancy with his wife. He felt her baby bump, and she felt his.

When he wondered what their baby would look like, she showed him her alien form.

And they both had trouble pulling their chairs all the way to the table.

Finally the big day arrived. Even though Janessa had conceived a day later than Peter, she went into labor first.

"Helllllp!" Peter howled.

"I'm not having the baby yet," Janessa told him. "I just wanted to pee first."

Then she started howling.

She gave birth to a little blue boy, whom they named Javix.

Peter gave him a cuddle, too.

Then Janessa went into a panic.

"What's the mat—? Peter began to ask. Then he realized he was in labor.

They named her Qiberty, and Peter couldn't help wishing that his mother was there to see her namesake.

Janessa couldn't wait to pick her up. "We're not sending her back to Sixam," she informed Peter.

"Of course not," he said. "She's ours. They both are."

Cassandra and Gunther have not been doing much except working. Cassandra was late to work two days and so is still at level 1 of the medical career. Her store has started selling paintings, though, and she should be able to start writing songs soon.

Gunther managed to get promoted to level 3. Just don't ask what his salad dressing is made out of.

And with Cassandra's encouragement, he's well on his way to becoming an A student.

Wow!!!!
So many great screenshots of Peter's abduction then of both Peter and Janessa in labor and giving birth.
In an earlier chapter, Peter had been angry and sad about discrimination against his sister's children, so this chapter developed that plot element in such an appropriate direction.
How are the names starting with Q pronounced?  Like quack or Quebec?

Congrats on Peter and Janessa's wedding, too.
Light blue Javix and lavender Qiberty, how delightful.  Looking forward to watching them grow up.

I pronounce them with a K, but however you like.

Peter's mother was Liberty Lee (and his father was Travis Scott, which is where Javix comes from). I think in most games Liberty starts out as an astronaut, so it's appropriate that he and his sister Stacy both have connections with aliens. Serendipitous, though -- neither one had a satellite dish set up.

That was very cool! I'm partial to male pregnancies from abduction...in case you haven't noticed. Loved them both going into labour together. :)
