I feel bad for Cassandra going through her struggles alone but I'm also proud of her for doing it and not giving up. Keep up the good work  :D

Round Three

Chapter 16 – Benson Dahl and the Lewises

Benson has added a table lamp to his stock. He used his first attempt at an end table to hold it.

Working as a scientist has kept him busy. He's made a synthetic food serum.

And he's analyzed a few crystals and elements. Benson thought this would be a handy machine to have at home.

He's also flirted a bit with his co-worker Bristol Muniz.

But so far the sparks haven't been flying. “Good of you to call, Bristol, but I gotta go.”

Benson has had a great idea for a new invention – a SimRay. But he needs a metal to make it.

You wouldn't think it to look at him, but Geoffrey Lewis is insane.

He is also very creative.

Insanity makes him act a little oddly at times. ("The scientist grasped the potion to his chest, looking around cautiously. He didn't want anyone to see him make the transformation into Dr. Evil - mwa-ha-ha!")

Most of the time, he seems like a normal sim, though, chatting with his friend Gunther Goth.

One morning, after Geoffrey went to school, Olivia and Johnny decided they wanted another child.

Their first try was successful...

As Olivia informed Johnny joyfully.

The two of them are still very much in love.

Olivia has been working on her herbal remedy garden. She finally located some strawberries so she can start making a deodorizing cream. Sometimes Gunther Goth stops by to chat with her.

Olivia felt her first labor pains while she was working at the store. Johnny hurried to close up shop and escort everyone out, while she went home.

It didn't take long for Olivia to deliver Jack Lewis.

Johnny went into panic mode somewhat belatedly. “And they say I'm crazy,” Geoffrey commented.

With two children, Olivia and Johnny have remodeled their house somewhat, in order to give themselves some privacy.

Chapter 17 – The Bagleys and the A. Goths

Elaine Bagley is going to demonstrate the right way and the wrong way to play on the monkey bars. The right way:

The wrong way:

It's the wrong way because it leads to this:

Shayna's been working hard, keeping her store running. She still sells more tables than donuts, but now that her friends are getting refrigerators, they've promised to come and buy them.

Elaine helps out as much as she can.

But usually she goes to the nearby playground after school. “I'm the dread space pirate Lainey, and you can't tell me what to do!” Shayna hopes she doesn't turn out like her maternal grandmother – the one who's in jail.

Elaine is getting to know the other children in Oasis Springs. Here, she's chatting with Gunther Goth.

By the time she's ready to close the store, Shayna needs a cup of coffee just to have enough energy to get home.

Cassandra had been going around all the stores, asking people to buy some pictures from her gallery, so that she could start hanging some new ones. Alexander decided to oblige.

Actually, her early works were quite suitable for his store.

Cassandra was pleased to see that he'd put Gunther's efforts over by the bassinet.

Alexander finally managed to reach level 5 in fishing and cooking, so that he could apply for a job as a scientist.

He and Janessa celebrated that night, with predictable results.

The real scientist in the family, though, is Isobel. She's gone from just throwing stuff together...

...to actually taking notes on her results.

Alexander started out as an Apprentice Inventor, possibly because he'd graduated from high school with an A (although in that case, he should have started at level 3). On his first day, he made and tested a synthetic food serum.

He analyzed a plant and a metal.

And he brainstormed with the Invention Constructor, whom he named Mort.

Alexander thought about his father a lot that day and wished he could be at the lab to see how well he was doing. He knew his father would understand what all the smokestacks and tubes were for – Alexander certainly didn't. And it was a little worrying that those birds were circling overhead. Were they vultures?

In the afternoon he went out to the grounds to see if he could find a suitable metal for a Sim Ray.

That evening he went to visit Olivia to see how she was doing with her two children. While he was there, Jack emerged from his bassinet. He's a good kid, but a bit rambunctious.

Everyone wanted a snack that night, so they all ended up in the bathroom chatting. Isobel was quite pleased about getting an A, even though the Whiz Kid panel had failed to give her credit for it.

She was hoping to see her baby brother or sister being born, but it was getting late, so Alexander sent her to bed. He dozed off himself, but quickly awoke when Janessa went into labor. She had another girl, and they named her Cornelia.

Chapter 18 – Stacy Lee

At the moment, Stacy's life was not very interesting. She felt like she was stuck in a rut, where it took ages to make a sale to customers who were either angry or tense. There wasn't much to spark her curiosity, except to wonder why Bob Pancakes would buy another stove when Eliza had bought one the day before.

She'd reached level 5 of fishing, but she still had to cook quite a few more meals before she could get a job. And she wasn't sure she wanted a job as a scientist – she'd rather work as a doctor. Staring into the fire, she realized she needed some fun in her life – and not just from playing chess.

Waldemar came over as soon as she called him. He might be childish, gloomy, and a foodie, but he was her good friend. She tried flirting with him, and he responded with alacrity. And when she kissed him, she felt her heart race.

“Come up to my tent?” she suggested.

“Yes, oh yes, qiriqi,” he responded.

It was Stacy's first time woo-hooing, and of course, everyone said it was an out-of-this-world experience, but Stacy was pretty sure that in her case it really was.

“Are you...?” she asked.

“Yes,” said Waldemar. “Does that bother you?”

“It shouldn't,” Stacy said slowly. “After all, my mother was an astronaut.” She was on the verge of asking Waldemar to be her boyfriend when he left abruptly.

Later, when she took the test, she discovered that she was pregnant. Stacy was really happy about it, at first...

But by the time she'd finished building a house and buying a bed and some plumbing, she realized that she was going to have a tough time financially. And besides, Waldemar needed to know that he was about to become a father. She invited him over and broke the news.

“Ah, qiriqi!” he exclaimed. “That is surprising. But it is good news, yes? You are happy?”

“For the most part,” said Stacy. “I've been wondering – what does 'qiriqi' mean?”

“It's an endearment,” said Waldemar. “It translates as 'fruit tree.'”

“Oh, well, qiriqi, would you --”

“No, no,” said Waldemar, laughing, “only females are called qiriqi.”

“Well, what would I call you, then?” asked Stacy.

“You could call me 'jozu,'” said Waldemar. “But only if we were married.”

“So will you marry me, jozu?” asked Stacy.

They decided to have the ceremony right away.

Stacy noticed that when she put the ring on his finger, Waldemar started glowing green. “It's because I'm so happy,” he explained. “When I have strong feelings, they show up in a glow.”

After the wedding, Waldemar went back to the house. “There's someone I have to visit first,” said Stacy, “but I'll join you soon.”

She went to visit Alexander Goth so that she could help Cornelia grow up. “She's going to look just like you,” Stacy remarked to him.

“Let me see what you look like,” said Stacy.

“I can tell you what I look like,” said Waldemar. “I have green skin, two eyes, two pointed ears, and no hair. Everything else is pretty much the same as you.”

“Everything?” said Stacy, giggling.

Waldemar sighed. “I'll show you, then.”

Early the next morning, while Stacy was still sleeping, Waldemar got up to go fishing. He wanted to be an Angling Ace, but so far his job had kept him too busy to do any fishing. Stacy had told him there was a good spot by the little wooden bridge.

Waldemar tried that one, but the fish were too crafty for him. He went to another spot and caught a goldfish.

Returning home, he found that Stacy's brother Peter had stopped by.

He told Stacy about meeting Peter while he was massaging her shoulders. “Oh, that feels good,” she said. “This baby weighs a ton. Did you tell him everything?”

“I told him we were married,” said Waldemar. “I didn't know whether you would want him to know I'm  from Sixam.”

“It shouldn't be a shock to him,” said Stacy. “After all, our mother was an astronaut. We even had a pet alien – a blue squid thing.”

Finally, the day arrived and not a moment too soon.

Stacy named her baby daughter Qatzi.

And she named the second daughter Qimi, Waldemar having explained that girls got names with the letter 'q' in them.

“Are they full Sixamites or half?” she asked Waldemar.

“Well, we know they're at least half,” he said. “I think we have to wait and see what powers they develop.”

Yes, the two girls are twins, both born to Stacy. I didn't realize Waldemar was an alien until he started glowing.

Loved this latest chapter.
And now we can learn from Stacy what it's like for a sim to wed and have children with a Sixamite (what are they called?).
I don't mean to offend Waldemar (who I find pretty adorable). But due to his nose and beard, I am reminded of Mario (as in Super Mario World)....

Edit: I meant "his nose and moustache," not beard.

@oshizu, you're absolutely right about Mario! I don't know what happened, but his nose grew a bit after he was discovered to be an alien, as you can see if you compare his profile in the earlier pictures. It wasn't my doing, but it happened after he assumed his alien (or Sixamite form). I used the term Sixamite, because Waldemar wouldn't consider himself to be an alien.

Chapter 19 – Bill Pancakes, the C. Goths, and Peter Lee

Bill has put up a house at Cacti Casa. Although he hasn't admitted it to anyone, he secretly hopes to be abducted by aliens so that he can write about the experience.

He's finished 3 books now and is working on a fourth, an epic poem entitled Plague Musings. He moved his word processor to his house so that he could write without being interrupted by customers.

Cassandra Goth is looking forward to the day when she can start writing songs for the violin. She still misses her piano, but not as much. Some mornings, she sleeps late, while Gunther gets himself ready to go to school.

Gunther is becoming quite the artistic prodigy. He loves drawing.

He plays his violin with great panache, even though his notes aren't always correct.

It did come as a shock to Peter Lee when he went to visit his sister Stacy and found her holding a baby alien.

“Did Waldemar get abducted?” he asked. “I heard there's been a lot of that lately. Are you planning on sending the little spawn back to its home planet?”

“The 'little spawn' are your nieces,” Stacy said coldly. “And Waldemar didn't give birth to them. I did.”

“Oh, wow,” said Peter, “you were abducted, sis?”

“No, they're our children, mine and Waldemar's.”

It took Peter a minute or two to process this. Stacy couldn't possibly be an alien because she was his sister, which meant –- “You married an alien!” he exploded.

“I married a visitor from Sixam, yes,” said Stacy. “I'm surprised at you for being such a bigot, Peter. I don't know what Mother would say, after all her work on the Intergalactic Fellowship Council. I think she'd be ashamed.”

“I'm sorry,” said Peter, “I wasn't thinking. As long as Waldemar's a good husband that's all that matters. Forgive me?” He looked over at Waldemar, who was reading a book.

"I don't think he heard anything," said Stacy. "Once he starts reading, he's miles away. Anyway, I forgive you."

“Now go and greet your nieces properly," said Stacy. That one's Qatzi."

“Hello, Qatzi,” said Peter. “Aren't you the pretty girl.”

He put her back in her bassinet. Almost immediately the bassinet shook, and Qatzi leaped out.

“And this one is Qimi,” said Stacy.

“Hi, Qimi,” said Peter.

She jumped back out of the bassinet as soon as he put her in.

“They're still green,” said Peter.

“I think that means they're hybrids,” said Stacy. “They inherited Waldemar's skin color, but that's all. We'll find out soon enough if they have any other powers.”

“I'm glad they're twins,” said Peter. “They'll have each other if the other kids won't play with them because they're green.”

“I'll be having a word with the parents if there's any prejudice,” Stacy said firmly.

As he walked back to his shop Peter couldn't stop thinking about his nieces. They were such sweethearts, he didn't want them to be lonely. It just made him fighting mad to think that other people might be rude to them because they were green.

Later that day, he came to a decision. He would try to get abducted and (shudder) impregnated so they wouldn't be the only alien kids in town. But in order to do that, he would need to live at his house instead of at the store, which meant that he'd have to make some more money.

"Howdy, bro!" he started greeting his customers. "Any questions? What's your price range? What are you looking for in your shopping experience?"

"Yes, ma'am, that treadmill should peel off fifty pounds lickety-split."

Finally, Peter had the money for a house, a bed, and some plumbing. Now all he had to do was sleep there and wait for the spaceship to come.

Thank you for the recap!  I was getting confused about the different children.

Also, I hope you don't mind my asking but I've been puzzling how you started out this challenge.
So that each of the 8 sims began with $20,000, you created them one at a time in CA then moved each into a (bulldozed) residential lot?
Next, you bought her/him a (bulldozed) retail lot, then sent her/him on vacation to Granite Falls until the sim cleared Tier 1 of Outdoor Herbalist?

Did you play one sim at a time from CAS to Tier 1 Outdoor Herbalist?
I enjoy imagining how I would play this challenge, but can't figure out how you started it.

@oshizu, My starting 8 were originally children in The Sims of Willow Creek.

Getting them into one household was kind of like the puzzle about transporting a goose, some grain, and a fox. I started by aging up Benson Dahl, deleting his mother, and putting him back into my library. The Spencer-Kim-Lewises were next. I aged up Olivia, and deleted the rest of the family. I merged the Goths with Olivia, and deleted Mortimer and Bella. Stacy and Peter Lee were the children of Liberty Lee and Travis Scott; I merged them in, deleted Liberty and Travis, and aged up Stacy and Peter. At this point, I had 5 in the household. Bill Pancakes and his parents came next (3), then Shayna Bagley and Elaine Joy (2), and finally, Benson Dahl was the last to be merged in.

I started a new game and moved the household of 8 to Arid Ridge in Oasis Springs. I deleted all the buildings in Oasis Springs except the Museum, and I set up 8 lots as retail lots. My household then went on vacation to Granite Falls. When they came back, I moved out Benson first, had him buy one lot as a residence and then another as his retail lot. After building his shop and setting him up, I went back to Arid Ridge and did the same thing with Olivia, etc. etc. I'm not sure how many hours of playing it took.

Oh, they're from your rotational play story!
Thank you for your very detailed explanation.  No wonder I couldn't figure out how you got eveyone to Granite Falls and then later to their own lots!
Your story really involved a lot of preliminary setup but your narrative has really benefited from your huge investment of time and effort.
Just reading the story, you make it look so easy!

Took a while but I am finally caught up. I love that you're using the children of original townies from your other challenge. Love the references to previous Sim families.
