Thursday 18th
Dear Diary,
There was the usual queue for the bathroom this morning so I just by-passed it all went straight out to tend to my garden.
Trouble was that by the time I had finished gardening things were a little desperate. Mulan kept asking me knock-knock jokes as I tried to walk past. I kept thinking 'oh gawd don't laugh, don't laugh...". I'll get my 'revenge.' Although it's great she feels at home enough to tease us!
Colt seems quite determined to bet Mulan in another challenge match. He's been asking Nick for some pointers. I'm not sure Nick is much better at chess than him but it's good to see everyone happy.
I've been looking forward to this leaving interview for some time now. I'm 99% sure she is ready.
I asked Kira gently if she felt ready to leave.
When she told me that she has felt ready for some time, I knew then that she would be just fine. Better than fine, she'd be great!
As we chatted she said she'd been dreaming of her own place for so long that she knew exactly how she was going to decorate it and who she'd invite over...
I was really happy for her.
As we hugged I could feel Kira trembling a little.
I told her to take it slowly and that I would only ever be a phone call or a visit away.
Kira wanted a Black and White party for her leaving bash. She looked beautiful.
Nick lost his cool for the first time in ages. I think he was feeling a little left behind now that Kira was going. I mean he said that Bo was cheating but generally we don't actually yell about what is bothering us truly.
Winston looked pretty smart all dressed up. Mulan got a little desperate as she had been so engrossed in her latest novel.
Alena and Colt were surprised when Kira announced her leaving. They had thought it was just a dinner party. Alena squealed with delight for Kira and gave her a big hug. Colt just tried to look down her top. least, I think that's what he's doing. Winston and Jon took a lot of these photos as I was stuck in the kitchen for most of the party baking 'black and white' and then 'white and black' cakes. *sigh*
Even though the kitchen was crowded I managed to have a quick chat to Pearl. Wow, she looked hot.
Alena managed to spot where Winston had shoved the camera after he got sick and tired of carting it around.
As I baked the third cake I wished I could go dance with Pearl.
And everyone else.
Kira looked like she was having a lot of fun.
Eventually I made it out of the kitchen and could chat with the guests.
It had been a really good night. I gave Kira a hug and reiterated that I was never very far away.
As we walked her to the gate I had such a sense of pride in Kira for all that she had achieved.
When we said our good-byes I felt quite emotional.
As I watched Kira walk away from us and towards her new life. I had to swallow a lump or two. I was going to miss her more than she would know. That girl had a way of getting under your skin... in a good way despite all her quirkiness!
Later that night, when everyone was asleep, I got busy on Pearl's leaving gift. I actually felt a little guilty when she first gave it to me as no one else will really use the work bench. But Pearl said she had wanted to give me something she knew that I needed.
As for Kira's leaving gift, well I think everyone will enjoy that.
Until tomorrow diary,
Matt.
